Trial of Biafra members resumes without Nnamdi Kanu

Trial of Biafra members resumes without Nnamdi Kanu

On Tuesday, the Nigerian government filed a fresh three-count charge of treasonable felony against four members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The four accused persons are Bright Chimeze, Benjamin Madubugwu, Chidiebere Onwudiwe and David Nwawuisi. They were initially facing a similar charge along with the wanted IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Following the stalling of the trial by the disappearance of Kanu in September 2017, the prosecution lawyer, Shuaibu Labaran, asked the court to hear the charge against the other defendants separately.  The request was granted by the court presided by Binta Nyako and resulted in the new charge read before the court on Tuesday.  The four defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Earlier, Mr. Labaran read from a sheet of paper which he described as the published version of an online publication, wherein a threat was made on the life of an operative of the State Security Service by IPOB members.  According to Labaran, a picture of the alleged operative was taken during the last sitting and used on the social media, with a threat by the IPOB members to "teach the operative a lesson".

Responding, however, counsel to one of the defendants, Nnemeka Ejiofor, asked the court to disregard the publication as well as the allegation. Ejiofor accused the prosecution of fabricating the said allegation, stressing that the alleged publication "does not bear any similarities with a traceable medium."

In a ruling, the judge warned journalists and family members to desist from taking pictures in the court room. "Otherwise, I shall ban the press. I shall also ban family members. I can do all that," said Judge Nyako.  The judge also warned parties that she would not allow the lawyers to waste time in her court.  She adjourned the case till Thursday for further hearing.

''I sleep with five men per day'' widowed 19 year old sex worker in Lagos says

A widowed 19 year old sex worker in Lagos has narrated how she sleeps with at least five men a day just to make enough money to take care of her child.

She was rounded up by men of the Lagos state police command during a raid at Collabor Hotel, an inn at Ige Street in the Iyana Ipaja area of the state, where herself and some underage girls are used as sex workers.

The police during the raid carried out on March 10th, discovered a 15 year old girl who was brought in from the East for prostitution.

Speaking with newsmen when herself and other sex workers were paraded at the command yesterday March 20th, Bassey who appeared unashamed, said she slept with five men per day and collected N2,000 from each of her customers.
“Nobody forced me into prostitution. I have been hustling at the hotel for some years now. I send part of the money I make to my relatives in the village for the upkeep of my child. I don’t have parents and my husband is dead. I sleep with five men every day, so I make as much as N10,000. I pay the hotel N5,000 every week. I wanted to save enough money for my education.”
Another sex worker, 18-year-old Blessing Effiong from Cross River State, also said she had sex with about 5 men everyday and that some of the men pay N1, 000 for sex.
“I came to the hotel last year and paid N3,000 per week for a room. I did only one round with each customer,” she added.
The owner of the hotel, John Okon, was apprehended along with the hotel manager, Emmanuel Thomas. Their alleged accomplice, Monica Ita, was said to be at large.
When interrogated, the hotel manager Thomas Emmanuel said “It is true that we provide rooms for sex workers where men visit them. We collect N5,000 from them (the sex workers) every week. We don’t give them out to men; they bring their customers themselves.”

The Commissioner of police , Edgal Imohimi, who paraded the sex workers, said the operators of the hotel will be arraigned in court for running a prostritution ring in the state.

Federal High Court dismisses lawsuit seeking to remove Yahya Bello as governor of Kogi State

Federal High Court dismisses lawsuit seeking to remove Yahya?Bello as governor of Kogi State

Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, dismissed a suit seeking to remove Kogi Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, from office.

Justice John Tsoho dismissed the suit on grounds that the plaintiffs, Michael Elokun, Ibrahim Sule and Hawa Audi had no business instituting the case. The plaintiffs were asking the court to grant an order for the return and immediate swearing-in of Idris Wada, former governor of the state.

Tsoho, in his judgment, upheld the objection of Bello that the plaintiffs had no “locus standi” to institute the action. He held that the plaintiffs were neither members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) nor aspirants in the primary election that made Bello the candidate of the party in the governorship election.

Moreso, the court agreed with Bello that the plaintiffs were not the only electorate in Kogi. The judge also held that the subject matter of the suit was not within the jurisdiction of the court as it was not a pre-election matter.

He said that the suit was bound to fail because it was filed almost two years after Bello had been sworn in as the democratically-elected governor of Kogi. Other defendants in the suit are the APC, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Attorney-General of the Federation.

Lol. Oritsefemi and Nabila's wedding makes it to MTO and the headline they used is funny

Lol. Oritsefemi and Nabila

It seems MTO is now very interested in Nigerian news. First, the foreign gossip site did a story on Bobrisky, then another on P-Square, and one on the Nigerian guy who was worshipping Beyonce. Now, they are reporting on Oritsefemi's wedding to Nabila and the headline they used is pretty funny.

"NEW WEDDING TREND???? Man ‘MAKES IT RAIN’ On His Wife . . . Drops A BAG OF SINGLES On Her . . . While She DANCED In Her Wedding Dress!!! (Is This OK??)," MTO writes. Their article below...
There’s a new TREND in weddings. Grooms pull out a bag of singles, and start THROWING dollar bills at their brides.
And we’re not talking about GHETTO weddings either. This trend is hitting some of the most EXPENSIVE and CLASSY wedding.
Yesterday, Nigerian singer Oritsefemi Majemite Ekele known as Oritsefemi and his wife, Nabila held their traditional and white wedding today at The Ark, Okunde Blue Water Drive, Lekki, Lagos.
At one point, the groom decided to give his wife a SHOWER OF DOLLARS. Look:
Dear MTO, it's a Nigerian wedding. It's very OK. In fact, it's the norm. Lol.

'PDP can never come back to power because of the massive looting that took place in the last administration' Orji Uzor Kalu says

APC Chieftain and former Abia state governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, agrees with the Minister of Informatuion and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who believes that PDP will never return to power. In a recent interview with journalists at the private wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, Orji said if Nigerians knew the magnitude of looting that took place in NNPC during the last administration, they will not allow any of the looters leave Nigeria via the airport or any other route. Orji strongly believes that PDP will never bounce back.

“How can they bounce back when the treasury was looted? How can they bounce back when the international community doesn’t see anything good in them? How can they bounce back when we gave them our treasury, they opened and looted it. We would call names if they want us to call names in future. All the world powers knew what happened and this is why they tactically insisted that PDP must leave power. PDP committed what was very shameful to have been seen in a democratic process. There is no system that is not without corruption but going to loot is an affront to the Nigerian people. They opened the treasury and looted it. President Buhari has been restrained by some world powers not to open up what happened in the NNPC. If Nigerians know what happened in NNPC, those people would not pass through this airport, people would not leave them. What they did is what ears should not even hear. How can they come back? They will definitely go into oblivion, they would never win election again in Nigeria unless they change their name.”
The former governor also stated that contrary to the believe in some quarters, President Buhari is not interested in having an automatic ticket to run as APC's presidential candidate in the 2019 election. Recall that few days ago, APC National leader, Bola Tinubu, stated that Presidnet Buhari will not be given an automatic ticket come 2019 and that the process for having a presidential candidate for the party will follow electoral guidelines.
In the interview, Kalu said president Buhari is a man that is fair in what he does and that he would follow due process if he wants to run for a second term.
'Buhari himself is not even looking for automatic ticket. Buhari is a man that is very fair in what he does. And his feeling is that if any candidate is willing to contest against him, he should come to the Eagle Square. And some schools of thought are saying, ‘No, if in the United States, Obama was given automatic ticket, for President Clinton was given automatic ticket, the first and second Bush were each given automatic ticket. So President Buhari is also feeling that automatic ticket for him is not right. He said open the space for other people who also want to contest. He wants the openness of the primary to take place. The contest should be thrown open. There would be no rancour. We are in a democracy and I would vote for the president. I’ve said it times without number that President Buhari needs to consolidate on his achievements because the President is very popular. He is still the only person carrying 12 million votes on his back. His tenure has been besieged by illness. So the President genuinely deserves second tenure. We are not afraid of anybody who wants to contest against the president'he said
